As part of my weight loss journey I am also increasing
my exercise and trying to get back in to running. It is something I have wanted
to be good at for a while now but I still find it very challenging. I often
meet people who haven’t run for ages but then always end up being faster than
me – it’s a little disheartening but I’m not giving up, The London Marathon is
still in my sights.
I have the app Map My Run on my phone which I always record my
exercise on although I mainly use it whilst running to try to decrease my time.
I am currently in a challenge on the app called The Extra Mile where you
basically have to run as many miles as you can in one month and compete against
your friends. This is helping to motivate me and I REALLY WANNA WIN!!!
My trusty app |
I competed in a 10k last year with a few friends and my
aim was to complete the race in less than an hour. I also chose to raise money in memory of my dad for The British Heart Foundation which really spurred me on. In true Thai style the race
was not measured correctly and it ended up being 11.5k. I worked out my average
and JUST about completed the 10k part in less than an hour and also came 5th
place in my age category. I will be taking part in another 10k race shortly and
I need to reduce my time so I try to run around 5 times a week.
I couldn't believe it that I came 5th!!! |
I also take advantage of Lee’s football stadium when I
can and run up and down the stairs there for some high intensity training. Although
I mainly run as part of my exercise I do get bored if I always do the same
thing so I quite enjoy doing the stairs. After each cardio session I also add
some weights, squats, sit ups as this helps to speed up your metabolism (something
I need to do drastically).
Stairs day |
I am really trying to increase my fitness levels so I’m
going to continue working hard as part of my diet.
